Mini May Superdrug Haul

I bought a few bits from Superdrug. I mainly needed a new shampoo and I’m always looking for new ones to try. I generally buy shampoo from Tony & Guy, James Brown etc but I saw Superdrug’s own shampoo for 99p so thought I would see how it goes.

I also treated myself to an old love of mine, Anna Sui Sui Dreams perfume. At £24.00 it seemed quite reasonably priced. I adore the scent of this – its gorgeous and quite sweet.

Anna Sui Sui Dreams Perfume EDT 30ml - £24.00
Superdrug Naturals Shampoo Cherry & Fig Fine Hair 300ml - £0.99
Johnson's Refreshing Facial Cleansing Wipes x25 - £3.05
Superdrug Body Puff Pink - £1.99
Superdrug Pink Toothbrush Holder - £1.59

....Reviews coming up soon for some of these items....

Spring/Summer Nail Polish Ideas

Wow I’m enjoying the sunshine today and felt inspired to create spring summer nail polish blog post. Heres the line up and a short and sweet review for each...

Gosh ‘569 Flamingo’ £5.00

This is a classic Barbie doll pink. The packaging is contemporary and the formula makes the polish easy to apply.

Topshop ‘Adrenalin’ £6.00

One of my fav nail polishes of the moment. Perfect to add sparkle to an outfit. Long wear and leaves a glitter effect.

Barry M ‘295 pure turquoise’ £2.99

This blue pop of colour is quirky and fun. It leaves a matt finish so I prefer to add a top coat.

Boots 17 lasting fix ‘tropical island’ £2.99

I adore this colour but the formula isn’t amazing. This is great is you are looking for something cheap and cheerful.

Limited Collection at M&S ‘Mauve’ Price unknown

Beautiful nail polish. This is an all rounder for me, perfect formula staying power and shade.

Fearne Cotton ‘Coral Island’ came in xmas gift set

The coral pink is ideal for wearing on your summer holls. I’ve been really impressed with fearnes range.

Fearne Cotton ‘lemon drizzle’ came in xmas gift set

The ultimate lemon colour brings out tanned skin and is great for summer months.

Fearne Cotton ‘Cotton Candy’ came in xmas gift set

I’ve been wearing this shade up and I love everything about it. Such a pretty, pretty colour.

Boots Extracts Product Reviews (From Gift Set)

Coconut Body Butter 200ml (£7.95)

I received these products in an Extracts gift set at Christmas. All the products I will be reviewing can be bought exclusively at Boots stores anytime during the year.

Although I’ve been fond of Extracts products for ages this is the first time I’ve got my hands on any of the coconut products by the brand.

I found this body butter soft and velvety to the touch. Unlike the mango body butter the coconut is less thick therefore easier to apply.

After using it in the shower it soaked into the skin quickly, was a joy to use and left a beautiful lasting scent throughout the day.

Coconut Body Lotion 200ml (lotions £5.25 for 250ml)

I didn’t notice an obvious difference between the lotion and the body butter. The body butter was a little thicker but did the same kind of thing.

I found because the two were in a set I could conveniently switch between the two for example if I was in a rush I could apply the lotion and be good to go.

Coconut Body Wash 200ml (£4.25)

Again I’ve never tried any of the coconut range before in this brand. I have favoured the mango or brazil nut body wash for a good while and have been delighted with the quality of these.

I did find the coconut body wash to be a nice product however I still prefer other scents in the range. The coconut wasn’t as strongly fragranced in my opinion. Despite this it was a joy to use alongside the other coconut items in the range.

Mango Body Butter 200ml (£7.95)

I’ve used this product many times before and I just keep going back. I love to stock up on the extracts in the boots Christmas gift range.

The mango scent is utterly divine and my skin just soaks up the butter. It works best on the skin after having a shower or a bath. It isn’t the quickest to sink in so if you’re in a rush you might like to use less or swap with the body lotion version.

The 200ml is a good size and lasts a fair amount of time. It’s also fair-trade which I like. I like using it alongside the body wash. The prices are a little more expensive but the quality you receive is excellent.

Mango Body Lotion 200ml (lotions £5.25 for 250ml)

This is an excellent product. It sinks into the skin very quickly and leaves a beautiful mango fragrance on the skin. It’s less thick than the body butter making it perfect to use if you are in a rush.

Mango Body Wash 200ml (£4.25)

I can’t say enough good things about this particular product. The quality is fantastic; I found the authentic mango scent heavenly. They use fair-trade ingredients and the packaging is lovely and simple.

Extracts Eco Bag

I wasn’t overly in love with the bag that the set came with.  I think maybe the style was a little too old for my liking. Others may like the design – I wasn’t amazed.

I cannot say enough positive things about Boots extracts products. They have been my go to brand for many years.

Radox Shower Smoothie Tropical Tranquillity 200ml £2.95

As stated on the bottle ‘Radox Shower Smoothies Tropical Tranquillity is a luxurious coconut shower smoothie with crushed almonds and myrrh.’

I’ve spoke about Radox shower smoothies before and my favourite of all time is the cranberry and blackberry edition which is called the soul soother. This is the most fantastic scented and beautiful shower gel I’ve ever used.

Disappointingly the tropical tranquillity did no way live up to this. The fragrance was hardly noticeable, in fact I could barely smell the supposedly coconut scent.

While using this product it didn’t do much for me. It’s lathered up ok and was fairly soft on the skin. At £2.95 it’s rather steep for a shower gel. It seems each shower smoothie in the range claims to do something different. In my opinion this is over marketing.

My advice is not to by this particular item but instead try the Radox cranberry soul soother version – much better! Review for this here. I still have yet to try the island indulgence which is waiting to be used in my bathroom, review for this coming soon.

Have you tried Radox products? Would you consider buying one of their shower smoothies?

Lauren Conrad Style Book

Even though this book has been out quite a good while I thought my blog readers would like to hear some of my thoughts on it. I wanted to make a review for anyone who may not already have this book and is considering buying it.

It’s a beautifully illustrated with a smart hardback cover – perfect to make any coffee table look a little more glamorous.

I found the writing style easy to understand and the ideas were fairly simple but put across so well. Lauren puts her personality into the book in an effortless manner.

Chapters divide different elements of the book including fashion, beauty and lifestyle. She seems to have thought of everything and I found her general approach to a range of topics nice to read and the ambience was light hearted and fun.

I mostly enjoyed reading about her own style and how she would dress for a specific occasion etc. There was a smaller chapter on hair and makeup which I liked. I found the hair tutorials helpful.

Lauren has lots of great ideas and I love her honesty throughout the book. This book would make a fantastic present and is a suitable read for teens up to adults. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a fun book about fashion.

Buy here on Amazon.co.uk.

Have you read any of Lauren Conrad’s books? What did you think? Do you have any fashion/beauty book recommendations?

Olay Eye Make-Up Removal Cream 100ML £2.99

Olay is quite a well known and trusted brand. Items by Olay can be picked up in Superdrug or Boots at reasonable prices.

My mum has always quite liked the brand and just recently I’ve been lovin' there moisturiser. I must say there eye makeup remover was not as good and I was left feeling a bit disappointed.

I expected much more from the product. The first thing I noticed when using this was although it’s designed for eye makeup if I got any of the substance in my eye I found it was irritated.

Makeup was removed quite well even around the eye area but the liquid was oily and did not do that much else.

Please comment if you have tried this product and let me know what you thought. Do you have any other makeup remover recommendations?
